Simple Steps to Wedding Reception Decoration

When planning wedding reception decorations, most people tend to think of flowers, table cloths and overlays, and the center pieces. Most of the time, little attention is given to anything else. By simply applying your mind to a few more things, you can make your wedding different and memorable.

A critical factor often overlooked is lighting. The most beautiful wedding reception decorations, and countless hours of hard work can lose a lot of impact due to harsh lighting. Make sure that the venue has lights that can be dimmed, or prepare to change to candles and lanterns (for the walls).

You can use a few statues and/or sculptures to create an effect, or complement your theme. Besides giving the venue an air of class and style, and offering something to look at, it will also offer interesting backdrops for all the photographs that will be taken.

Besides your center piece and the flowers on the table, a few more strategically placed bouquets can make a huge difference. An extra bouquet at the entrance, and another at the wedding cake, can lighten up the atmosphere considerably by themselves, especially if the venue is not too big.

Covering the chairs will make them blend in with your theme, and it will allow you to add decorations to the backs, depending on the layout and placement of the tables.

Don’t just rush in and buy what you see. Putting wedding reception decorations together can add up very quickly, and unless you are prepared for it, cause a huge dent in your pocket. You can save a lot by exploring a few discount stores, checking out clearance sales, and even doing comparison shopping online. A lot of money can also be saved by crafting some items by hand. Your guests will want to take something with them as a reminder of the wedding, and something handmade will be valued much more.

At the end of the day, it has to “come together”. It would ultimately be better to settle for fewer items that complement each other, than to have a lot of decorations that do not form a whole.
