Decorating For Wedding Memories

Ah, weddings, the happiest social occasions on earth!  Where would we be without them, as they’re what make the world go round.  And every girl grows up looking forward to the perfect wedding, dreaming of it even as a little girl.

So when it comes time for your wedding, you want it to be as memorable as possible.  You want to be able to look back with your husband fifty years from now and relive those memories as if they were yesterday.  And you want the same experience for your many guests.  To create that,  it’s important to keep in mind that you’re decorating for wedding memories.

It’s easy to give in to the temptation to incorporate some of the latest styles or even fads into your wedding celebration.  And if that’s what you really have your heart set on, well, it’s your wedding, and you should make the final decision.  But any competent wedding planner is going to try to talk you into going with more traditional decorating themes.  Because they know that what seems like a good idea to you at the moment, will probably not seem like such a hot idea a few years from now. You may well look back on your wedding photos and feel like the decorations are tacky, or even garish.

That’s why, when you’re choosing wedding themes and decorations, you always want to keep in mind that you’re decorating for wedding memories, as well as the one time event.  You’ve no doubt been to a few “contemporary” weddings where you wished that bride had kept that uppermost in her mind.  And you don’t want people leaving your wedding with that same thought in mind.  So really think twice before you go for a novel or eclectic approach to wedding decorating.  What’s “hot” or “cool” now probably won’t be in just a few years, and you’ll be red faced as you look back at your wedding photos.  Stick with the tried and true, the traditional wedding look.  That’s your best bet.  If you have some unique ideas, run them by your wedding planner, and trust her judgment.  She wants you to have the best wedding possible.
